Room 13 Chasing Dreams

Room 13 were thinking about things they would like to do when they grow up. We made a movie with the song by Six60 called Chasing Dreams that showed some of the dreams we have.

Duffy Bookbags

We have had lots of children joining us this term. In our assembly on the first Friday of term they all received their Duffy book bags. Welcome to Room 13 and Team 1 :)

Term 2 Immersion Assembly

This term's theme is 'I Like Your Latitude'. It involves using computational thinking; (all about steps, directions, instructions) to solve a problem. Team 1 are looking at the problem of why so many bees are dying. Take a look at the movies the Team 1 teachers made for the immersion assembly.

Swimming

In weeks 5 and 6 Room 13 went down to the Glen Innes pools for our swimming lessons. We learnt how to float on our backs and fronts like a starfish, how to kick across the pool - with a kickboard and without, and we learnt how to go under the water to find a toy. We had lots of fun and learnt so much. Now we are much more confident in the water.

More Creations

Paaka worked hard in our Create Space and made a telescope. Frank was also busy making things out of the lego.

Duffy Books

On Friday we got our Duffy books in assembly. In class we got to choose the books we wanted to take home. We love reading and listening to stories.

Inspiration for Writing

Lately we have been switching things up a little in our classroom. We have been having our independent play time in the morning first up and have been learning how to take photos by ourselves of the things we have created. After that we have been writing about what we did.

Drawing on Hyperstudio and the ipads

We have been learning how to use Hyperstudio. First we have been learning how to use the bucket to colour in a house Mrs Forbes drew for us. Then we have been learning how to draw our own. We have also been learning how to draw our own house in Explain Everything on the ipads.

Johnathan's Last Day in Room 13

Today was a little bit sad because Johnathan is leaving us to go to a new school.  Mrs Forbes brought us some cake for his last day with us

Making Gingerbread Men

We have been reading the fairytale of 'The Gingerbread Man" so the other day we made some.
It was lots of fun and they tasted delicious.

Our first assembly
