School Picnic

Last Friday our whole school went down to the Point England Reserve and beach for a picnic. It was a beautiful day and we had so much fun.  We got to have a swim in the sea, make sandcastles, play different sports, do karaoke and search for crabs. 

Swimming

Last week was our last swimming lesson down at the G.I Pools. We were in the deeper leisure pool. We practised our floating and kicking with a board. We also learnt how to turn over onto our back if we fell into a pool.

Things We See At School (Ss)

This week we have been learning about the letter Ss and the word The.  We read a book about the things we see at school that start with the letter Ss.

Buddy Afternoon

Today we had a fantastic afternoon when the Year 4  class, Room 12, came to visit us after lunch. We each got 1 or 2 buddies to play with. We could play with whatever we liked so long as we played together. Some of us played with the lego, while some painted pictures. Others read books or played with the play dough and lots of children even got dressed up.

Kiwisport: Get, Set, Go!

Today we had our first Get, Set, Go lesson. We were learning about balance. We had to practise balancing on different body parts. Some of the balances were quite tricky to do. 

We also had to balance a soft toy on different body parts. 

We played a game where we were frogs jumping on lily pads and flies buzzing around. Whenever the whistle went we had to freeze. If a frog could touch a fly they switched places. 

For our last game we got into a circle and held hands. There were 2 hula hoops which we had to pass around the circle without letting go. It was quite tricky.

Omaru Creek

Last week we went to Omaru Creek.

Duffy Show

Yesterday we went to the hall to see the Duffy show. It was all about Duffy meeting a girl who was a Superhero from another planet. She had come to Earth to help stop Global warming. But she also needed Duffy's help with learning to read.

We had lots of fun. We even saw some science experiments where Duffy made a frothy liquid bubble up and overflow out of its container.

Omaru Creek

Our school value for this year is Responsibility 
                 
                     "Kaitiakitanga i nga wa katoa"

This term we are thinking about how we can look after our place. We are learning about how we can look after ourselves, our classroom, our school and our community/environment.

On Wednesdy we went for a walk to Omaru creek. When we got there it was stinky and we saw some rubbish in the water. 

We did see some pukeko and ducks but we also saw a rat scampering on the river bank and hiding in the bushes.

Each class had a turn to go down closer to the pond to look and listen while the rest of team 1 played games.

It was fun playing in the playhouse too.

 

After playtime we checked out the different things we can play with in our classroom.

Antonio, Kiko and Moimoi liked playing with the cars.

Cing Cing did lots of drawing.

Brooke, Bonnie and Bentley made delicious cookies with the play dough.

 

Antonio and Samuel also played with the blocks and dinosaurs.

                                           

Kiko and Mele loved dressing up.

Mele also did some painting.

Flynn did some investigating  in our Nature Nook.

We had lot of fun today!
